My very 1st character was a necro which I created in May 2005, I was able to make armors only in Beetletun and Amnoon Oasis, played N/Me blood magic + domination, with some unbelievable builds including life siphon, well of blood, empathy, chaos storm and energy surge (until I capped life trasfer lol), pugged the whole game in a period in which necros were accepted only in some desperate teams, did THK at 6th try, and completed the game with Amnoon armor.

Only after that I was able to collect enough gold to get Droks armor, essentially farming with an ele and a warrior.

Those remain my best times in GW, times for heroes ...

Hmm. My boyfriend's been playing for about a month, and has made enough money to get himself max armor for three characters with reasonably expensive dyes. Additionally, he also salvages items, and sells stacks of materials for reasonable prices to people and is therefore doing well for himself.

Another friend I got into Guild Wars made 40k within a month, during the Dragon Festival by selling tokens.

The last friend I got into Guild Wars, hasn't gotten a grasp at selling items properly yet, but is consistent, with around 10k always on her character.

I guess it just depends on whether new players can see, and take opportunities to make decent money, and how fast their learning curve is.

I've been telling this since the week after loot scaling kicked in. In most cases1,5K armor is way too expensive for the average starting player.

The quest rewards and drops just don't net one enough cash.

As for the drops when killing all at the same time - This is true for me, too. Killing monsters one by one really seems to improve the drops a little bit.

Too much to ask?

I couldn't find a way to farming it(I was only setup for 55 farming at the time and some have Gaze of Contempt) solo so I did it with just 3 heroes(henchs would have been fine). This only yielded 1-2 Venerable Mantid Pincers per run but it was cheaper than buying them(I once saw someone selling them for 500g each). As a Warrior your friend should have minimal trouble soloing the Mantids and getting alot more Pincers than I did.

In general, I advise your friend to just play the game. I used to think that loot scaling was a joke but I have to say that I was completely wrong. The only thing I get less of is crafting materials.

Schroedinger: When you get to Diessa Lowlands you'll want a full group. Trust me on that one. PM me in-game if you need any help!!
I'll let you know! So far we're through to Pakin Sq., and peeling off to do skill quests. A bit of a hiccup: my wife's laptop is running base Intel graphics chipset, so we need to acquire a graphics card that actually works with GW so she stops getting killed by the most feared monster in any RPG: The BSoD.

Still no cash issues, we both upgraded armor in Ascalon City and our storage is packed with craft materials and cash (First plat!)

Does it also increase the time needed "a little bit"?
